Printing a Load Label

Purpose

It shows the label for one load and prints it through the browser.

Who does this

Warehouse and office staff who print the label that goes on a load.

Before you start

  • You have the right account (see Permissions and Access).
  • The record and date you are working on are correct.
  • Words you do not know are in the Glossary.

Access

Warehouse > Label Print

What is on the label

Check these against the physical work before you print:

  • the load or reference
  • the commodity
  • the customer — shown as a three-letter abbreviation
  • the quantity
  • the date it came off the vehicle
  • the warehouse location

The three-letter customer code is a short form for the label. It is not the customer code used elsewhere, so match it by eye rather than assuming it matches another screen.

How to print

  1. Search by load, reference, trailer, customer or commodity.
  2. Pick the load from the list and open its label.
  3. Compare every value with the load in front of you.
  4. Print, and check the paper. Opening the label is not printing it.

Only loads that have come off a vehicle, or are spare stock, appear in the list.

If something goes wrong

Situation What you do
The load you need is not in the list Clear the search and reload. If it is still missing, check whether the load has moved on from its unloaded or spare state.
The label is blank or shows the wrong load Close it and go back to the list. Do not print a label you reached by guessing.
Nothing came out of the printer Reopen the label and print again. Duplicate labels are possible — keep track of what you have already printed.
You are not sure whether it printed Check the printer, then check the load's paperwork. Nothing in the system will tell you.

Changing a location while you are here

Some accounts can also update where the load is stored, from the same screen. That is saved, and it is a change to the inventory record — so read the location back afterwards to confirm it took.

Who owns the next step

Warehouse staff own the label and the location. The stock record itself is corrected through the inventory record — see The working day, step by step.
