Decision 0010 — Foundation Excellence Before Feature Expansion

  • Status: SUPERSEDED IN SEQUENCING / ARCHITECTURE RATIONALE RETAINED
  • Authority: RATIONALE_ONLY
  • Date: 2026-08-18
  • Current phase order: ../ROADMAP.md
  • Current Phase-1 scope: ../ROADMAP.md
  • Live execution: ../EXECUTION.md

Original Problem

The early Logistics Workspace implementation mixed infrastructure, current-schema SQL, authentication/session behavior, large Web/UI composition and copied compatibility runtime. Continuing feature work without improving those boundaries risked copying Legacy coupling into Booking and MK.

Retained Decisions

The following architecture rationale remains accepted:

  • evolutionary modular-monolith refactoring rather than a restart;
  • pure platform/application contracts separated from concrete MySQL/provider/UI adapters;
  • explicit composition roots;
  • typed command/query boundaries;
  • current-schema anti-corruption mapping in DB adapters;
  • reusable modernization plugins only behind bounded typed adapters;
  • actual-route characterization and authoritative readback;
  • measure-first performance, security, accessibility and recovery;
  • no microservice or generic framework without measured need.

Superseded Decision

The original sequencing required all Foundation work and a separate Foundation acceptance before the first integrated Product write. That sequence is superseded.

Foundation is now implemented only through a current operator slice with an immediate consumer. The current phase order and exit gates live in ROADMAP.md; current Phase-1 scope lives in ROADMAP.md; exact Task order lives in EXECUTION.md.

Historical Consequence

Previously implemented Foundation code remains useful only at its recorded evidence level. It is not expanded merely because this decision once described a broad Foundation program.

Immutability

This record is historical rationale. Do not amend it to represent a new current plan. A future change creates a new superseding decision and updates the owning current documents.
